In October of 2007, my stepdaughter was married in the historic Connecticut town of Hadlyme, Connecticut. The smiles of these pumpkin-faced scarecrows greeted family and friends at the old public hall where the wedding took place. It was a beautiful setting for a such a happy occasion.

I can see why it was such a memorable occasion too. What a fun idea for a special day.

That pumpkin couple look like they’re going to have fun after the wedding!
How sweet!
Looks like an intriguing place! It certainly oozes with charm.
Great shot, Cathy!
Thanks, Nancie!
Cute. Mr. and Mrs O’Lantern. Well, unless she kept her name. 🙂
Very funny, Caanan — love it!
Beautiful Picture!
I know its been long since I visited your blog. Its just that I am too busy with my regular job and its taking most of my time.
Thanks! Glad to see you back here! 🙂
I don’t give this marriage six months! They may not even make it to Halloween!
Hmmm — You might have a point. I wonder how many scarecrow weddings end in divorce? 🙂
Lovely picture 🙂
Thanks 🙂
What a wonderful way to greet guests and put a smile on their faces as soon as they arrive.
It was pretty cool – very festive!
haha very original 🙂
Love the shot. What a nice welcome to a church and what a gorgeous setting to get married in.
Thanks, Leigh. Yes, it was a gorgeous setting and the weather was beautiful, too.
That is so original and I love the color contrasts!
Thanks, Vera. So many colorful places in Connecticut this time of year.
What a lovely place to get married! I’ve always thought that an autumn wedding would be great… especially in the northeast.
I love autumn weddings and the northeast is so beautiful then!
Very cool. Must have been a fun and lively wedding 🙂
Indeed! It was a very fun and beautiful wedding.
What a great place to get married! I love the little pumpkin head greeters.
We all loved the choice of wedding location. Perfect for this time of year.
Aww.. how cute! That is so unique for a wedding!
Aw, very cute!
So cute! The place looks like a romantic setting for a fall wedding.
Very romantic place. It couldn’t have been lovelier.
ADORABLE. I love it!! 🙂
I’m sure the pumpkin heads will live happily ever after 🙂
Hope so — Jeremy up in previous comments didn’t give them through Halloween! 🙂
The picture was the very essence of autumn to me! Pumpkins, autumn leaves, scarecrows, and a distinctly New England church. Thank you for giving me a little piece of the fall spirit!
Thank you for your very nice comment! Glad you liked the photo.
What a lovely place for a wedding!
This little church looks familiar and I am thinking I took a picture of it when I lived in Connecticut
