On the South Side of the Thames River
I’ve got London on my mind today as we get closer to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. I really do wish I was there to experience the excitement surrounding the big event.
This photo was taken in London on the south side of the Thames. South Bank is one of my favorite parts of London, stretching from Lambeth Bridge to the Tower Bridge. I enjoy the views across the river of Parliament and St. Paul’s Cathedral while passing landmarks such as the London Eye, Globe Theatre, HMS Belfast and the Tate Modern.
Best wishes to William and Kate!

This picture makes me wish I was in London too! Such a great place to be although I am not sure I would want to be in the crowds that will be amassed for the wedding.
Thanks, Debbie – glad the photo made you feel that way.
Aww, I agree. Best wishes to William and Kate. Everywhere is showing the wedding here, tomorrow. We’ll probably miss it though because we’re out all day. I think I’ve said this to you before but it’s odd isn’t it how well we get to know foreign cities. We know Istanbul so well but London, our capital city…I’ve been once when I was young. I wouldn’t know where to start. 🙂

Your photo looks regal. I can only imagine all the pomp & ceremony tomorrow – don’t think I’ll be getting up to watch at 3:30 in the morning but I’ll toast them tomorrow night. It’s a great shot.
This would be a great weekend to be in London! Beautiful photo 🙂
Beautiful picture, makes me miss London a little! I like the South Bank, too, and from the London Eye you get amazing views over Westminster and a lot further!
Thanks! I haven’t been on the London Eye yet. Must do that sometime!
I’d love to go back to London but I don’t think I could handle the crowds this weekend. I’ll wait and then maybe the commemorative plates will be on sale too!
i always forget about the boat traffic – what a great shot!
You know I wish I was in London every single day- not just this weekend! I am very excited to watch the wedding on TV and even though Bob thinks I’m really silly- I love all the attention towards it!
I sarcastically joke that whenever we cross the Channel to the UK, the sky looks like that in your photo!!!! Grey!!! A very original photo however!!
Oh dear! They forgot to invite me! LOL That shot is really beautiful…How I wish I could fly there someday…;) Thanks for sharing…

Thanks, Jorie — I was kind of waiting for the invitation, too 🙂
Great shot Cathy! I have CNN on as I type this. The countdown is on. I remember Charles and Diana’s wedding. Then, I got to seem them in Halifax a few years later. It was exciting.
Happy Travel Photo Thursday~
I remember Charles & Diana’s wedding too! And I saw them in Newfoundland a couple of years later….small world!
Nancie and Raymond — I remember Charles and Diana’s wedding, too. I didn’t stay up to watch it, but it was very exciting. I think I’m even more excited about Kate and William’s wedding though. Not sure why.
Beautiful photo 🙂
I agree–just seeing this photo makes me wish London. There is just so much to see along the banks of the Thames.
OMG I was so over the media coverage to be honest. Although Kate looked so fab in her wedding gown, don’t you think? I liked it better than Princess Di’s.
I’ve actually missed a lot of the media coverage — maybe that’s why I’m so eager for more! Her gown was absolutely beautiful and it was perfect for her.
Great Photo ..but i m not interested in their wedding !!! Instead of that i can see some other places 🙂
This photos sums up London for me! I can only imagine the excitement of actually being there.
Got that view just a few weks ago in London. All the bridges are wonderful, I can never stay away from the Thames.
When I’m in London, I automatically head for the Thames right away – usually South Bank. Love the views and atmosphere there.
Although I don’t like crowds, I kind of wished I was there too. Something about sharing in the excitement of the city when you’re just visiting…
Thanks to all for your comments. Sorry that I couldn’t respond individually to everyone. I was out of town and got a little behind on things. But I am very grateful that you’ve dropped by my blog and shared your ideas.
Have never made it to London – Hope to do that some day
