Travel Photo Thursday – Swiss Charm

Hotel des Balances

Lucerne, Switzerland

I was enthralled by Lucerne, Switzerland with its famous lake, covered bridges over River Reuss, and cobblestone streets. It was an overcast November day when I arrived by train from Interlaken, but Lucerne’s beauty and charm brightened the scene. Like many of the buildings in Lucerne’s Old Town, the Hotel Waage/Hotel des Balances has a lovely painted façade. The golden leaves of the tree in front seem to give it a bit of a sparkle.

This is great motivation for me to make a trip to Lucrene. I’ve never seen such an ornately painted faced. Oh by the way, I saw you Interview at Caz & Craig’s site. Wohoo!

Gorgeous shot Cathy. I was in Switzerland when I was a teenager, and never made it to Lucerne. I think that’s a good reason to go back!

Thanks for joining Travel Photo Thursday.

Some of my ancestors came from Switzerland. I’ve never been there but, was always fascinated by the archictecture. What month of the year is flipflop season?

Imagine getting the job of designing the ornate paint job on the building. I would love to be involved in a project like that. Adds so much character and charm to the building

Switzerland is one beautiful country, and old buildings are always very fascinating. In this photo you captured a sense of melancholy, very nice.

I haven’t made it to Lucerne yet, but I’ve heard it’s beautiful. It must have been so nice arriving and seeing that this was your hotel!

I wish that had been my hotel! Unfortunately, I was only in Lucerne for a few hours and was on a train to Geneva that night. I did have a nice dinner next door at Valentino Spaghetteria that you can see on the left.
