One of the advantages for the guests of a destination wedding is that they get to enjoy serendipitous exploring of a place they might otherwise not have seen.

Barcelona: Scenes from Eixample

I’ve been back from Spain for a month and a half, but I’m still thinking about the cities, the sea, the food and the people! Many of you have already seen my postcards from Girona, snapshots of Madrid, posts about Barcelona’s “Block of Discord”, Catalonian wine country and more. For Travel Photo Thursday, I want to share some photos of Barcelona’s Eixample Disrict, the heart of the city’s “raux i seny” design culture and most of its Moderniste architecture.
Featured Museum: The California Story
The Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) showcases the state’s history of attracting newcomers from early explorers to recent immigrants, as well as chronicling the lives of the native people who were here before them. OMCA also presents California’s influence in the world, significant events, art, and natural sciences. There’s something for everybody — native Californians, newcomers, and visitors.
Barcelona’s Block of Discord

Passeig de Gràcia is Barcelona’s grand avenue of elegant shops, upscale hotels and Moderniste architectural gems exuding the Eixample district’s “la rauxa i el seny” design culture…..What came as more of a surprise was Illa de la Discòrdia.
