Our 2013 Christmas Markets Tour

As I write this post, I’m with family in northern Wisconsin in a small town along the border of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan — Marinette. Yesterday, I came across Santa Claus (possibly the real Santa?) on Main Street. He couldn’t tell me any details, but said that he’d be headed overseas today.

The Baroque Towns of Puglia: Martina Franca

It was a whirlwind of white towns in the Valle d’Itria in Puglia for us in June. First we walked around Locorotondo, then drove across the valley to Cisternino and later strolled the trulli-lined lanes of Alberobello. Another town that captured our interest and imagination along the way was Martina Franca.

A Bite of Italy at Apofruit Italia

Believe it or not, I don’t think I’ve ever had an apple right off the tree before — it was absolutely delicious. Being in Italy on a fine autumn morning probably enhanced the experience, too. If I could eat apples like that everyday, my fruit intake would be greatly increased.

The Irish have a saying that truly represents the hospitable nature of the people — Céad míle fáilte, meaning “A thousand welcomes”. That’s exactly the kind of welcome I got checking into the Four Seasons Dublin for my stay during TBEX Dublin.

Still thinking about Copenhagen …. This photo feat Still thinking about Copenhagen …. This photo features one of many aspects of the city that I loved — getting around is easy. It’s definitely bike -friendly and public transportation is great. Central Station is shown here with bicycles parked in the foreground. Of course, it’s a wonderful city for walking, too. I’m slow getting out a post on the blog about our trip — stay tuned! #denmark #copenhagen #bikes #gettingaroundtown #travelcopenhagen
Simply put … I love Copenhagen. I expected to like Simply put … I love Copenhagen. I expected to like the city before our visit in December, but I felt so much more. Of course — the sights, the vibe, the food, the history was wonderful. But it was the warm welcome of the people and their friendliness that made the most important impression. I hope that our connection as friends and allies can outlast the current US regime. I’ll post more soon. #lovedenmark🇩🇰 #natoallies #copenhagenscene #denmark
