Previously, I published an article about my first day in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, sharing some of my favorite scenes and moments in the Old Town and New Town areas of the city. But there are other places on the west side of the Vltava River, particularly Prague Castle, that draw visitors from all over the world, too.
Marzipan Monday
When I’m traveling, I look forward to special culinary treats. In Germany recently, there were many delicious temptations and I did not resist! While on the train from Hamburg to Lübeck for a day trip, I was talking to a very nice woman who told me that Lübeck is famous for its marzipan, a confectionery paste made of almonds and sugar.

A Wonderful Year of Travel
I feel very fortunate that I was able to travel as much as I did in 2011. I reached new destinations, revisited favorite cities, explored my local area, took a sentimental road trip, met fellow travel bloggers in Vancouver, left a few stories in Vegas, and fell in love with a country!
Remnants of the Berlin Wall
For those of us who grew up during the Cold War, the Berlin Wall was a stark symbol of Communist oppression in concrete and barbed wire. Living in the United States, it was difficult to imagine the lives of East Berliners, separated from their families and freedom on the other side of the wall. In November, 1989 when the wall was finally brought down, the surprising news was greeted with joyful tears and cheers around the world.
